Obelisks - Architectural
Models - Three sizes
The
classic obelisk has long been an established icon. The earliest
obelisk found, excavated at Abu Sir, Egypt, dates from the Old Kingdom,
around 2417 BC, during the reign of Neuserre. The shape of the
obelisk, with its pyramid top and tapering base, is thought to represent the
rays of the sun. Roman emperors were so fascinated by them that they
took at least thirteen obelisks from Egypt to be erected in Rome.
Egyptian obelisks stand in Paris, Florence, London and New York. These
desk-top examples are ideal for display alone or in groups. A
touchable artifact that adds an historical reference to modern life.
Ideal gift for an architecture or history enthusiast. Made of cherry
and birch wood. Choose from three sizes. Each features
distressed French finishes in honey (small and large sizes) or black
(medium). |
