Fokker (Red Baron) Triplane
- Medium
A delightful replica of the Fokker Dr. I Dreidecker (triplane).
The
Red Baron (Manfred von Richthofen) won his last 20 victories piloting the
Fokker Triplane in 1917-18.
Built
by the Fokker-Flugzeugwerke aircraft company in 1917, the familiar red
triplane is a favorite for collectors today as no original Fokker Triplanes
have survived. Most were destroyed during World War I and the few
examples that were saved have since been lost. Thus, the only way we
may appreciate them is through the excellent reproductions that exist.
Widely replicated, this example of a mid-size model features colorful hand
painting with just enough distressing given to the finish to add
authenticity. Intricate details in the cabin and throughout the
aircraft, including leather covered seats, metal struts and engine covers,
even a laminated wood propeller. An ideal gift for a vintage flight
enthusiast.
