Rain Drum

Named for the sound made by the Monsoon rains beating down on the drum heads, rain drums were often used in religious ceremonies, bringing spiritual powers to their owners as well as the status of material wealth.  Archeological examples of these magnificent drums have been found in the most ancient sites of the Dong Son culture of Vietnam, considered by many to be the earliest Asian culture to enter the Bronze Age, as far back as 1,000 BC.  Legend has it that they were sometimes used by skilled drummers to frighten off enemies, creating the sound of marching armies.   Reviving a lost wax-casting method, the bronze drum contains alloys that give it its pure sonorous tone.  A traditional radiating sun design is featured in the center of the drum head, with concentric circles of geometric patterns emanating from the center.  A true-to-tradition example of iconography destined to bring peace and harmony into any space.  Often used as a table just as it is, the bronze frogs on top can be modified to hold a glass top.  Available in two sizes, see below:
